HOW THE INTERNET WORKS?

  1. All the computers on the internet use a protocol called TCP/ IP.A protocol is set of rules that describe how computers communicate
  2. when you send a message across the internet to another use. TCP divides the data into units called packets and attaches to each packet. The information is necessary to reassemble the data and check the errors. IP then labels all the packets with a header containing the address of the destination and sends them on their way.
  3. once the packets reach their destination. The computer on the receiving end removes the IP header and use the data. That TCP attached to each packet to make use none of the packets have been lost or damaged. The packets then resemble into the original message.

  5. The hardware used to connect computers to the internet varies. If you access the internet from home, you most likely use a modem.
  6. Once all the packets of data arrive at the web server, the web server will look for the specific article, similar to how you’d look for a file in a cabinet drawer. Once the file has been located, the web server will chop up the response into data packets again, and send them back to your browser.
  7. Finally, when all the data packets arrive back at your browser, your browser will reassemble all packets into the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files that represent the article.
